Communication and Media
Dr. Richard Vogel has been a Professor in Communication & Media from Culver Stockton College in Canton, Missouri.   Prior to his time at CSC, he was a consulting producer to an award-winning news program. He also wrote, produced and directed corporate videos, directed university sports programming and produced several public service announcements. His primary research interest focuses on the promotion of media literacy and critical thinking education as topics that should be taught throughout a young person’s curriculum, from K-12. He teaches a range of media writing, production, theory courses and public speaking and has produced a skit comedy show. He also teaches media law and production along with writing courses for news and creative content.  Richard was invited to present talks in China, Thailand, Malaysia and Myanmar and via zoom to a conference in Paris. In 2018, he received a Fulbright in Bangkok which involved creating media literacy curricula for grades K-12. He presented his findings to the Ministry of Education of Malaysia.

Dr. Nuriyati Samatan is the Dean of the Faculty of Communication Sciences at Universitas Gunadarma, Jakarta. She is also a senior lecturer who is actively involved in academic and research activities at Universitas Gunadarma. Dr. Nuriyati obtained her bachelor’s degree from Universitas Muslim Indonesia (UMI), majoring in Da’wah. She then pursued her master’s degree at Universitas Muslim Indonesia (UMI) in Da’wah and Social Communication, and later completed her doctoral degree at Universitas Padjadjaran with a concentration in Social Sciences. She has nearly 28 years of experience as a lecturer. She also serves as a member of the international editorial board of the International Journal of Communication, Management and Humanities (IJCoMaH). She has published several books related to the field of Communication Studies, as well as national and international journal articles. Leila Mona Ganiem is Vice Chairman of the Indonesian Communication Scholars Association (2017-now). Since 2008, she is a lecturer of the postgraduate program of Communication at Mercu Buana University, and also a guest lecturer in many universities in Indonesia. She was a Commissioner in Indonesian Medical Council (2014-2020); Reviewer for scholarship recipients LPDP held by the Ministry of Finance of Indonesia (2016-2018); Communication Consultant (1999-now); Trainer in National Defense Institute of the Republic of Indonesia (2013-now); Member of Personal Development Consortium, Ministry of Education of Indonesia (2007-2014); work in Indonesian Embassy, Islamabad, Pakistan, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1993-1996). Mona was graduated from Indonesian University with a doctoral degree in communication. She had got a master's degree in communication; a master's degree in anthropology; a diploma followed by a bachelor's degree in English Education and a Diploma in Marketing, Advertising, and Public Relations. Mona got certified in international researchers, competence Assessor on communication.  She is also a speakers and trainers, and reviewers for journals. She wrote 12 books mostly on communications.

Deddy Mulyana was born in Bandung on 28 January 1958. He is a professor in the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Padjadjaran University. He received his first degree (Drs.) from Department of Journalism, Faculty of Communication Science, Padjadjaran University, Indonesia (1981); M.A., from the Department of Communication Studies, Northern Illinois University, USA (1986); and Ph.D. from Department of Anthropology and Sociology, Monash University, Australia (1996). He was the Dean of Faculty of Communication Sciences, Padjadjaran University (2008-2016). Deddy became  a Visiting Researcher/Visiting Professor in Northern Illinois University USA (2000), Technische Universitat, Germany (2002, 2005), Randolph-Macon Woman’s College, Lynchburg, USA (2004), Leiden University, the Netherlands (2005, 2006), and Monash University, Australia (2009, 2011). Deddy has spoken in more than 50 international conferences. He has written over 50 books, over 50 research journal articles (including Scopus-indexed journals such as Health Sociology Review, International Political Sociology, Media and Communication, Pertanika Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities, Malaysian Journal of Communication, and SEARCH Journal of Media and Communication Research), over 500 articles in newspapers and magazines (including Kompas, Pikiran Rakyat, Media Indonesia, Republika, Gatra, and the Jakarta Post). He has received some prestigious awards from Indonesia as well as from overseas, one of which was from the Australian Government for being selected as the Winner of the Australian Alumni Inspirational Award (2009) who has contributed significantly to the Development of Communication Studies in Indonesia. Deddy’s Google Scholar h-index is 40 with over 26,000 citations per August 2021.

Dr. Moh Farih Fahmi is a lecturer at the State University of Surabaya (UNESA) Indonesia, in the economics faculty and business program studying Islamic economics and halal industry. He was born in Lamongan in 1991 and completed his elementary and secondary studies at the Darul Ulum Islamic boarding school in Jombang, Indonesia. He completed his undergraduate and master's studies at the State University of Malang, Indonesia and completed his doctorate at the State Islamic University of Surabaya. His current activities, apart from being a lecturer, are also active in several community organizations in East Java, Indonesia. He has conducted a lot of research on Islamic economics, halal tourism and the halal industry. Yuri Alfrin Aladdin completed his undergraduate studies in Management at STIE YAI Jakarta in 2000, followed by his first master's degree in European Studies (with a concentration in European media and culture) at the University of Indonesia from 2005 to 2007. Then he continued with a scholarship from Bunda Mulia University (UBM) for his next master's degree in Communication Studies at UBM, Jakarta, from 2012-2014. After that, he pursued a PhD in Communication Science at the Sahid University Graduate School, Jakarta, from 2016 until he was declared graduated as a doctor of communication science in September 2021, with a graduation status of "Very Satisfactory." He worked as a journalist for the Indonesian National News Agency Antara starting in 1992. LKBN Antara once assigned him as the Head of the Antara Bureau for the European Region based in Brussels, Belgium, from 2001 to 2003. His work as a permanent lecturer began in 2011 at the Communication Studies Program of UBM, Jakarta, until he resigned in early 2019 and became a part-time lecturer at Al Azhar Indonesia University (UAI), Pancasila University, IISIP, and Undira. In early 2020, he became a permanent lecturer at UAI, Jakarta, then resigned in August 2022 and became a permanent lecturer in the Postgraduate Program (Master's) at LSPR Institute of Communication and Business, Jakarta. In March 2024, he resigned from LSPR and became a permanent lecturer at National University (Unas), Jakarta. He published several books in communications. His research is mainly in journalism and media analysis.

Dr Nor Surilawana Sulaiman is a Lecturer of Halal Science at the Faculty of Halal Science and Sustainable Tourism (FHaSST), Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA), Brunei Darussalam. She is also appointed as Head of Undergraduate Programme for the academic year 2025/2026. At the same time, she was appointed as the At-Tamayyuz Coordinator at FHaSST, Fellow Research at Halalan Thayyiban Research Centre (HTRC), UNISSA and a supervisor for Fire & Rescue’s UNISSA Cadet for the academic year 2025/2026. She received the Dato' Dr Abdul Halim Special Award for academic excellence in the 13th Convocation Ceremony of USIM in 2015. She also attended the Halal Product Research Institute (HPRI) at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Malaysia, in 2019 as part of the Student Mobility Programme.  She holds a PhD in Halal Science (Halal Management) from the Halalan Thayyiban Research Centre, UNISSA. Currently, she is completing a Universitas Negeri Malang International Postdoctoral Fellowship programme. Dr. Muhammad Rashid is an Assistant Professor of Chemical Engineering at the Islamic University of Madinah. Previously, he served as a faculty member in the Integrated Engineering Department and the Chemical Engineering Department at the Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Malaysia. He earned his PhD from the University of Waikato, New Zealand where his research focused on recovering protein from dairy wastewater for biocomposite development, thereby providing a treatment process in a circular economy manner. As an academic and researcher, Dr. Rashid has extensive experience in materials, waste valorization and renewables. He has published over 100 research papers with over 2800 citations, supervised MSc and PhD students and successfully completed at least 15 national and international research grants. Being a professional engineer, he has collaborated with industrial partners to develop and commercialize research products while also leading various social and community projects.
